A two-stage plug is a type of electrical plug that has two different power levels for the two halves of its single round (or oval) prong. The most common design has a center pin that can make contact with either half at any time, thus creating two different potentials from one plug. They are used to handle a higher power rating than simple plugs such as NEMA 5-15 or 5-20 (5 A and 20 A, respectively).
This 2-Pole 2-Wire plug has an NEMA 1-15P configuration, and is designed to accept 2-wire devices. It also comes with a current carrying capacity of 16A and maximum copper wire diameter of 0.380" (9.5mm).
